Easier Now vs Sunsama
Sunsama asks you to plan each day. Easier Now plans the day for you.
In Sunsama you sit down and place each task by hand. Easier Now estimates the tasks, fits them into the hours you have left, and shows you one.
Side by side
Both are unhurried apps for people with too much on. The difference is who does the planning.
| Capability | Easier Now | Sunsama |
|---|---|---|
| Who plans the day | The app does | You do, each morning |
| Setup before you can start | None | A daily planning session |
| Estimates learn from your logged minutes | ||
| Overdue work handled one at a time | ||
| Points and a tree you can switch off | ||
| Two-way Google Calendar sync |
Where Sunsama is the better fit
If you like the daily planning session and want to decide the order of every task yourself, Sunsama is built for that and does it gracefully.
Where Easier Now is the better fit
If the planning session is the thing you keep skipping, Easier Now does not have one. Easier Now picks the order, learns how long your tasks really take from the minutes you log, and hands back overdue work one item at a time.
Only one of these apps does the planning
Sunsama gets a lot right. It is unhurried and it is on the side of doing less.
But you sit down each morning and build the day yourself. On a good day that is a useful twenty minutes. On a bad day that session is the first thing that goes, and after three skipped mornings the app stops being used.
What Easier Now does instead
Easier Now has no planning session. You add tasks whenever they occur to you, and it does the estimating and the ordering.
Open the app and one task is on screen with Done, Skip, Later and Log. Tap Done, set the minutes, and the next task loads.
If the tasks need 14 hours and there are 6 hours left, Easier Now shows you which ones will not fit today.
Questions about switching
I have abandoned every productivity app. Why would Easier Now be different?
Easier Now has nothing to maintain. There is no board to tidy, no weekly setup and no daily planning session. Miss a fortnight and you are handed the backlog one item at a time, with three buttons under each: skip it, do it today, or mark it done.
Does it connect to my calendar?
Yes, Google Calendar, both ways. Events come in with prep and travel time added, tasks can be written back as calendar blocks, and you choose which calendars sync. More calendars are on the roadmap. You can also split personal from work, so nobody on your team sees what you do after hours.
I do not have an ADHD diagnosis. Is Easier Now still for me?
Easier Now is built for people with more to do than time, including people with ADHD. No diagnosis is needed and none is asked for. If picking what to start is the slow part, Easier Now does the picking.
