One task on screen
One task, with Done, Skip, Later and Log. Easier Now does the choosing, and Later is always there for when it chooses wrong.
For scattered minds
Easier Now takes the whole list, works out how long each thing takes, checks the total against the hours you have left today, and puts one task on screen. When you fall behind it hands the overdue ones back one at a time.
Why the last app stopped working
Every one of them is good at holding tasks. None of them start tasks. They hand you the list back and ask you to choose, which is the exact step that stalls, and then they mark what you missed in red. Miss a week and you open a wall of failure, so you stop opening it, and the app joins the pile.
What the app actually does
One task, with Done, Skip, Later and Log. Easier Now does the choosing, and Later is always there for when it chooses wrong.
Each task carries an estimate. If today holds 6 hours and the list needs 14, Easier Now names the 8 hours that will not fit before the day proves it at 6pm.
Set a routine daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. Miss Sunday's watering and it sits near the top of Monday's list, and one routine never turns into ten copies of itself.
Come back after two weeks and Catch-up hands you what you missed one card at a time. Skip a routine, delete a one-off, or press Do today to pull it back into today. Stop halfway and the rest waits.
You think 30 minutes. The task takes 50. Log the 50 once and the next estimate for that kind of task is 50, so the plan stops being fiction.
Finishing a task earns XP and grows a watercolour tree. A streak counts the days you keep going. Some people find that it is the thing that gets them back in on a flat morning. Others find points on their own work irritating.
The tree and the XP are optional. Turn them off in settings and nothing else about the app changes, and Easier Now never asks you about them again.
The streak is the only thing a missed day affects, and the streak is optional. Your tasks, your estimates and your projects sit exactly where you left them. Nothing is archived and no screen tells you that you have broken anything. A passed deadline does show in red on the card, because you asked to know, and Catch-up is how you deal with those one at a time instead of all at once.
This is the part most of these apps get wrong, and it is why the last four ended up deleted. Easier Now has to hold up on your worst week. That is the test we built it against.
Type or paste everything in, in whatever order it falls out of your head. One sentence can become several tasks: “book dentist, email landlord, finish the slides” goes in as three. Connect Google Calendar and your fixed commitments come across with prep and travel time attached.
Then open the app. One task is already on screen. Do that task.
Easier Now has nothing to maintain. There is no board to tidy, no weekly setup and no daily planning session. Miss a fortnight and you are handed the backlog one item at a time, with three buttons under each: skip it, do it today, or mark it done.
Finishing a task earns XP and grows a tree. It is optional: one setting turns both off, and nothing else about the app changes.
