Feature

Four things on a task decide what you do next.

How urgent it is, how much it matters, what the hour is worth, and a purple star for the days you already know. Add the deadline you set and Easier Now works out the order for you.

Urgency, in red

A deadline is closing and missing it hurts. This is the one that answers what goes wrong if the task is late.

Importance, in blue

The task moves you towards something you actually want: impact, revenue, or growing as a person.

Pay grade, in green and yellow

What this hour of work is worth, or what it would cost to hand it to somebody else.

The priority star, in purple

A toggle, not a fourth score. Star a task and it sorts ahead of everything unstarred, for the days you already know what the one thing is.

How it works

What decides the order

The three marks, the star and the deadline you set. Nothing else. Keep filing that information in as you add work, and the top of the queue is always the right thing to be doing.

What comes next

Four things on a task decide the order.

How urgent it is, how much it matters, what an hour of it is worth, and a purple star for the days you already know what the one thing is. Set those, add the deadline, and Easier Now works out where the task lands in the queue.

  • Urgency Red What goes wrong if this is late? A deadline is closing, and missing it costs you something real.
  • Importance Blue Does this get me somewhere I want to go? It moves you towards a core goal: impact, revenue or your own growth.
  • Pay grade Green and yellow Should I be the one doing this? What this hour of work is worth, or what it would cost to hand over.
  • Priority star Purple Is this the one thing, today? A toggle, not a fourth score. Anything starred sorts ahead of anything unstarred, and the three marks still set the order inside each group.

What an hour of it is worth

Five tiers, set on the task. The higher the tier, the more it costs to hand the work to somebody else, so the more it matters that you are the one doing it.

  1. $10an hour Admin Tidying, data entry, simple errands
  2. $100an hour Value Agency-level work, serious project work, specialist tasks
  3. $1,000an hour Strategy Consultant-level calls, fundamental business decisions
  4. $10,000an hour Leadership Speaking on camera, industry events, pivotal calls
  5. $100,000an hour Executive Foundational decisions, managing cost structures

About the top two tiers. They hold more than money. They also hold the things nobody can do for you at any price: eating, showering, playing music. High value is not the same as high status.

The two tiers below the five

The five paying grades are not the whole scale. There is a tier under all of them for work that actively costs you money, and a neutral tier for work that does neither. Both are on the same control as the rest, and a task set to either of them still sorts on urgency, importance and the deadline.

The badges on the card

The impact marks sit in the bottom right. The pills along the meta row above them tell you where the task stands in time.

  • +2h, +7m, +4w is how far behind the task is running. It is an overrun, not a duration.
  • Next to it sits the deadline itself: “Today”, “Jun 26”, “Jul 24”.
  • A deadline still ahead of you is purple. A deadline that has passed is red.
  • The time pill also says whether the task is strict, and so anchored to its time, or flexible and free to move.

Questions about this feature

I have abandoned every productivity app. Why would Easier Now be different?

Easier Now has nothing to maintain. There is no board to tidy, no weekly setup and no daily planning session. Miss a fortnight and you are handed the backlog one item at a time, with three buttons under each: skip it, do it today, or mark it done.

What happens when a client blows up my afternoon?

Press Optimise schedule and Easier Now works the rest of the day out again. Your strict commitments stay where they are, your flexible work is refitted into the hours that are left, and anything that no longer fits today is shown to you so you can move it or drop it.

  • Cancel in a click In settings, with no phone call and no form.
  • No surprise charges You always know what you are paying, and when.
  • Your data is yours Export your tasks or delete them, any time.
